New Builds and Fit Outs
We work from plans and price off drawings, then coordinate with the builder, the electrician and the ceiling contractor so plant, ducting and outlets go in at the right point in the programme rather than being retrofitted around finished work.
On a fit out that usually means getting into the ceiling space before the grid goes up. Bringing us in early keeps duct runs short, puts outlets where the design wants them, and makes commissioning straightforward instead of a fight.

Servicing and Maintenance Contracts
Commercial equipment runs far more hours than a domestic heat pump, and it tends to fail at the worst possible moment. A planned maintenance contract means filters, belts, coils, controls and drainage are checked on a schedule, and faults are found while they are still small and cheap.
We keep a record of every visit, which matters when the building comes up for its annual compliance review.
IQP Certification and Building Warrant of Fitness
If your building has specified systems on its compliance schedule, they must be inspected and reported on by an Independently Qualified Person before the council will issue a building warrant of fitness.
JP Air Con is IQP certified, so for the systems we are qualified on we can carry out the inspections, complete the paperwork and keep the records the council expects. Using one contractor for both the maintenance and the sign off removes a lot of back and forth.
Offices, Retail and Medical Rooms
Comfort in a commercial space is about more than temperature. Get the air distribution wrong and you have staff sitting under a cold draught while the far corner of the room stays stuffy, and before long somebody switches the whole system off.
We zone systems so different parts of a building can run at different temperatures, and we set up controls simple enough that people actually use them properly.
Community Buildings and Halls
Halls, clubrooms and community centres are used in bursts - empty for days, then full for an evening. That pattern needs equipment that can bring a large volume of air up to temperature quickly without costing a fortune to sit idle in between.
We size for that use pattern rather than for constant occupancy, and we set the timers and controls so a volunteer can walk in, press one button and have the place warm before people arrive.
Commercial HVAC Questions
What building owners, facilities managers and project managers around Northland ask us most.
An Independently Qualified Person is approved by the council to inspect and report on specified systems - things like mechanical ventilation and air conditioning - that appear on a building compliance schedule. The council will not issue a building warrant of fitness without those reports. JP Air Con is IQP certified for the systems we work on.
Yes. We hold planned maintenance agreements for buildings across Northland, with the visit frequency set to how hard the equipment actually works. You get a record of every visit and a warning when something is heading towards replacement, rather than a surprise failure in the middle of summer.
Yes. We price off drawings and specifications and we are used to working alongside main contractors, electricians and ceiling installers on a programme. If a design needs a practical adjustment on site we will raise it rather than quietly build something we know will be awkward to service later.
We are Northland based, so nobody is driving up from Auckland before they look at your problem. Response depends on the day and where the site is, and customers on a maintenance contract get priority. Call 021 344 340 and we will tell you honestly when we can be there.
Yes. Our installers are registered electricians, so switchboard work, isolators and control wiring are part of the same job with one contractor responsible for the lot.
